Here's the other stationary set I made...I had to try out y new Butterfly punch with the Punched Potpourri Hostess set...I used the mini flower punch (from the set of 3 mini punches) and a matching rhinestone for the center of the butterfly...and the words from the Level 3 Hostess set....

SSSShhh! Don't tell....

... but this is my swap for the upcoming Definitely Stampers 2 Christmas Swap....It had to be non-traditional colors, so I chose Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, and Pretty in Pink....I used the new snowflake diecut strip to make some flakes for the background (kind of like faux embossing)...don't know if you can see it, but I added Dazzling Diamonds to Santa' hat....love the sentiment in the 2 3/8" circle....

Girly B'day!

I needed 2 birthday cards really quick (for end of September b'days) for my friend's daughters' birthdays!  They were born 2 years and a day apart....I used my Sizzix pocketbook die (non-SU!) and some retired Sale-a-bration paper...the die has the purse, nail polish and lipstick...what better place to put the make-up than on the inside!  These took all of 10 minutes!  Gotta love it!

'Anything Current" Swap

Here's a card I made for the swap that never was....our last demo meeting was cancelled last minute, so we could not meet up to swap....the theme was 'anything current' so that makes it real easy to decide what to make...I actually go this card from fellow demo Brenda Miller's blog, but I changed around the colors a bit....the flags are actually birthday hats turned upside down...and yes--I did cut out everyone of those flags by myself (I made 8 cards to swap!)

New-way-to-use-it Daisy!

I thought this was a great way yo use the Daisies #2 die cut....cut the flowers out as normal...fold each daisy in half (it's tricky to make sure that the petals are all showing, but it doesn't have to be really neat on the bottom, since it gets covered)...cut part of a 1 inch circle to use as the stem base of the flower....use part of the Swirly Decorative Strip for the stem/leaves....wouldn't this be cut as a spring card with a pink flower?

Stationary Kit

Here's a veeerrry rough sample of a stationary kit (from Tami White's blog)....I changed up the inside  partions to have it hold a standard A2 card and some 3 x 3 note cards instead of the original smaller note cards and 3 x 3 cards...the channel down the middle is for the pen (but it's hard to see in the photo)...the area in the top left corner of the photo will probably be for stamps (here is inserted an address stamp....I think it will probably hold 4-5 cards of each size....the first photo shows the lid of the box...I always use retired card stock as my first tyouts of a project...that way I don't feel like I'm wasting paper!

Not what I expected!

I saw a different color version of this card on Splitcoaststampers last week, that accompanied the Crimped Diamond Tutorial....so I tried it, and I'm slightly underwhelmed....I do however love the center ornament--I mixed gold glitter and gold embossing powder....I was going to use this for an upcoming Christmas swap, but changed my mind...maybe it will look better in a different color, other than white...

Back to School Blues

I have to admit that I honestly thought I would have a bunch of free time to stamp, but this back to school stuff is kicking my butt!  I haven't even gotten a chance to look in my craft room, never mind stamp!  I spent the entire day yesterday trying to organize some clothes for fall/winter (who would have guessed that September would be chilly--it's usually 90 degrees for back to school!) I will try to get back in the swing of stamping this week--if I don't I will go bonkers!  Check back soon!  Kate

Happy 1st Birthday!

My friend's little one is turning one year old this weekend and I wanted to make a really girl card!  I love the look of the scallop border in shades of color...the key is to make a 6 inch strip of scallops, line them up and then trim the sides (unless you are a pro at the scallop border punch and can line up three strips exactly at the same point!)  I stamped the candle(s) and the subtle circles from Apple Blossoms set in white Staz-on (hard to see in the photo)...the strip of white is the throw away from punching the scallop border punch (it's the perfect skinny strip for accent!

Designer Bag

Here's the other bag I made using the Sweet Pea D/S paper....I just love that striped paper...as a matter of fact, I love any striped paper...I wish SU! would make an assorted pack of just striped paper--wouldn't that be fun?!

Snazzy Bag!

I decided to take a break from cards and make one of these purses....for me, it's a 2 day project...not that it is hard to make, just slightly involved....I made 2...I will post the other one tomorrow....

So-so Two Step Bird

I purchased this Two Step Bird punch because it was one of those things that I thought would have lots and lots of 'I can't wait to make' samples....but as I looked around, I have yet to find any :(...I made this card with some of the retired Sweet Pea D/S paper...I'm not in love with it....I did see a very adorable pink Flamingo done with the wing part of the punch...I will have to find it and make a sample....I've also been thinking of a red cardinal for a Christmas card (with some sparkly snow on his back????)....stay tuned!

Button flowers

Love this new Hostess set, Apple Blossoms!  This ultra simple card uses buttons to make really cute flowers!  I made two samples (as I often do--you've got all the stuff out, so why not?)....I just changed up the ribbon....

There's always room for improvement....

I was staring at my previously posted Jolly Ol St. Nick card and new there was something missing....glitter? ribbon? brads? BLING?!...and then I remembered that I had this stuff called Liquid Applique...SU! used to sell it years ago, but I think it is still available in craft stores....you just spread it on, careful not to get it on the black lines (or else they will be covered and you will lose the effect of the outline) and let it dry for several hours....I also swirled it like icing on a cake so it didn't have brush stroke lines....then use your heat gun and it magically puffs up!

Love Birds?!

That owl punch again!!!!  Just changed up the eyes and added a beak (sliver of Summer Sun)....might just make a cutesy wedding card, right?

Back to school....

and back to stamping!  My older 2 (and hubby) went off to school (and work) this morning ...so as soon as I get my house back together, I'll be stamping much more!

Here's another owl card....I changed up the ribbon....on the close-up shot, I stamped the sentiment on So Saffron, since my original go at the stamping of the words was kind of messed up...see, you never have to rip up a card--just cover it up!

The branch is from the 2 step bird punch...I've been working on some cards with that punch, too!
