Blue and Brown...

I love the color combo of light blue and brown...in this case Cool Carribean (yes, I am still hoarding some!) and Soft Suede...Cool Carribean is actually very similar to Pool Party, so that would work, too!

The embellishment is a giant brad with a small punched flower on top...with a pearl center, of course,,,,

Multi-colored leaf

I've had this diecut/embossing folder duo forever, so I decided to break it out...I didn't know how to color the leaf so I just smooshed a bunch of colors onto the paper with daubers...then stamped with woodgrain background...the background behind the leaf is embossed with the strips folder--but horizontally...

Dawn O.'s pinecones

I saw a version of this card on Dawn Olchefske's blog...she always has great stuff...this card uses the technique of inking an embossing folder...Dawn has a great video that makes it sooooo simple....and she had a great tip to ink up the entire folder and run 2 pieces of paper through at one time...the tope picture shows the 2 different papers (one innie and one outtie!)

Check out Dawn's blog....you won't be disappointed! Just google her name!

Simple Snowflake

The Big Shot snowflake diecut and the hand held punch snowflake...with a 1 inch strip of glitter paper...quick, simple and elegant...just think of the color options!

Simple and elegant

Isn't this card stunning?  I just fell in love with it's simple layout (from Artfelt Creations, of course)...and had to try it myself...you can tweak the size of the opening to fit your sentiment...wait till you see the other cars I made with this layout!

Colorful Butterflies

I saw a similar version of this card done in 3 pastel colors (and just 5 butterflies, with a sentiment stamped where I put the 6th butterfly)...so I decided to take a stab at the card with the Summer Smooches paper...I think it's a little colorful (maybe too much!) but it made for a nice birthday card for my niece...I used 2 different sized mini butterflies ad I think both work nicely...

Lovely Notecards

I used my new embossing folder to make a very delicate notecard...stamped the base card and the top layer almost in the same spots to add dimension...them placed a sentiment in the center of the oval embossing....these would make a nice gift set...in multiple colors with different sentiments...

Well, at least I tried....

I saw a version of this card (I think on Dawn Olchefske's blog) and made a go of it....I like the 3 D-ishness (if that's even a word) of it...the white piece is popped up with dimensionals...I liked Dawn's version better because of the colors she used....I am a little low on D/S paper...I'm hoping the new catty will have some nice stuff!

I'm back...a little...

....My last child (who I thought was staying healthy) ended up having strep this week...and the others are still recovering..as well as me....but I did have the opportunity (since I've been stuck in the house!) to do a little scrapbooking....I will post some of the photos soon...

Here is something I made a few weeks ago using the jumbo stocking die....I need to retry the slipper part (as I free handed it) and change up the ribbon (maybe some satin ribbon?)...but you get the general idea....

Top Note Elf shoes....

Just as last year, I always find such nice holiday cards that people post right after the holiday season...knowing myself, I would print out the samples, file them away and then have to scramble next November to make 60 or so Christmas cards...last January and February I was somewhat smart...I made about 40 Holiday cards that were ready this year to send out (and what a pleasure it was not to rush)...I did have to make some cards, but I wasn't overwhelmed...

So this year I plan on doing the same thing...so here's the first card...these are the cutest elf shoes ever!  There is a video link and full directions on Inking Idaho;s blog (check out the column to the right)

Taking credit...

On our stocking making day, I suggested to my oldest to make a jumbo version of a card she liked that had a pair of ice skates on it, using the stocking punch...she started out but then gave up, so it became my job to finish the skates...she helped along the way with suggestions, but then in the end, wanted to take a picture with the skates, as if she made them....gotta love Maggie!

I free-hand cut out the blades...the heel of the skate is a Soft Suede stocking trimmed into a heel...I laced some ribbon through some holes I punched along the edge...

Our Stocking-making day!

My kids and I sat down for some crafting a few weekends ago and decided to make some stockings to decorate the house for the holidays...they each got to make some stockings and they all got really creative!

Here's mine...it's done all in Very Vanilla with some sponging of Sahara Sand...it's hard to see in the photo, but it's really stunning in person...

Did some say "Stocking Die"?

Yep...that's the stocking die!  There are mini tutorials all over Splitcoaststampers for this adorable treat holder...the toe is a 3 1/2 in circle with another circle partially cut out and glued on...a heel is cut and the whole thing is embossed (thus erasing the lines of the added 'toe' circle)...I added some light sponging of white ink to the top of the boot (embossed with the web pattern...

This would even be cute for a teacher gift with a gift card sticking out....

Rainbow butterflies

CASE'd this card pretty much exactly...isn't it terrific??

Helpful Hint:  I glued the rainbow (torn) strips to a piece of white card stock measuring 4 1/4" x 3"...that way I was able to center it perfectly and trim all pieces equally....

Fall Wreath

This was my first attempt at the wreath/door card...the Christmas one was my second...

Instead of doing a raised panel door (which I like much better) I only made the door flat...

Summer anyone?

I think I've lived through enough 'historic' events for my lifetime!  We here in the northeast were just hit with 6 inches of snow from yesterday's Nor'easter!  I had to rush around this morning and get out all the snow gear so my kids could go outside and play in the snow...It's only October and I'm done with the snow...

Well enough of my complaining...I thought I'd post this bright, cheery and warm card that I made for my friend, Ronnie...I chose the colors depending on the buttons I owned, but you could really make the flowers in any colors and used paper for the centers...one hint, make sure to really glue down all the petals of the flowers that are along the edge...notice I rounded the corners of the card...the black stitching along the edge is hand drawn...

Getting it right...

Sometimes, it takes me a while to really get a card perfect...as you can see in the 1st two cards, I felt you couldn't see the dangling snowflake (which you can't!) so I backed it with a circle of Baja Breeze and added a sparkly brad in the center...ahhh..much better!

The background embossing is on white paper, but I inked up the actual folder before running it through the Big Shot...

In these 2 cards, I changed up the measurements from the previous card a bit, didn't use the ink technique on the folder--thus allowing you to see the snowflake better--and then I added a sparkly brad to the center of the snowflake...

Halloween box, with instructions

Here's my Jack-o-lantern box...

The box part measures 3 1/2 x 6....scored on the longer side at 2 1/2 and 3 1/2...the sides should be scored at 1" on either side (the shorter side)...cut at the creases and fold and glue...

I free-handed the face...the stem in the tab punch...the curly q's are just strips of Always Artichoke, curled around a skinny dowel...

Frosty Box

Is this the cutest, or what?  I saw this 'as is' but there weren't any directions...so I made up my own dimensions for the box...I will post them later with the pumpkin version I came up with!
