Happy Earth Day!!??

I haven't been stamping much lately (although I am in the  middle of making a scrapbook for my hubby's aunt (I will post soon!) We have been doing a bunch of things around the house (inside and out!) We had a huge pine tree removed from our front yard on last Thursday--the kids joked that we were supposed to plant a tree instead of cut one down! Now my craft room gets even more sunlight! (My craft room is in the enclosed porch in the front) Hopefully this weekend will be nice and we can finish up our projects--will we ever be truly finished? Have a great weekend!  PS__yes, that is my little one sitting on the porch while I was taking the picture!

So this is how I did it....

You are going to think I am nuts after you read this, but please feel free to let me know of an easier way to make this really cool card...yesterday's post was made with the 1 inch square punch...then I took the 3/16" corner rounder and rounded the two opposite sides of each square--tricky enough because once you put the square in the rounder, you can barely hold it...but I managed to do it...but when I saw that only 2 flowers would fit on a card, I was determined to fit 3 across!  So I took out my 3/4"square punch and used the same corner rounder...but this time I had to carefully drop the square into the rounder--which was NOT EASY!  I actually left the card and finished it the next day because I was so frustrated!  So, if you attempt the card--leave plenty of time!  Here I used Elegant Eggplant, Almost Amethyst, Summer Sun and YoYo Yellow....and some brown rhinestones (non SU!)

Colorful Squares

I first made the card with the purple squares and thought it looked too plain, so I changed up the orientation of the card and added another 'square' flower and some words...I will posted some instructions with my next post...

Quickie Birthday Present

Here is one of the covered notebooks that we are making for my daughter's party this weekend....I whipped this one up really fast for a friend's daughter who was turing 6...turns out that this was her favorite gift of all the stuff she got!

Happy Flowers!

I pickup up this 6 x 6 scrapbook (at Michaels or AC Moore, I think for $1.99 and decided to use it to make a birthday album for my 9 year old's birthday this weekend...More Mustard, Cameo Coral, Cool Carribean (a retired color from several years ago that I've been hoarding!) Chocolate Chip and Old Olive...I pull the colors from the cover...and used my new Big Shot decorative strip to make the pages...I have to admit that I stop just 2 pages short of completing it cuz my arm got tired of cranking th Big Shot! I also 'cheated' by using some felt flowers and punched flowers....

Flowery Mother's Day

Here is the 2nd Make-n-Take we did at our monthly demo meeting...this card is from Brenda Miller and uses some retiring colors (Almost Amethyst, Lovely Lilac) and the new preview set Awash with Flowers that is on special this month....

Vintage Make-n-Take

Here's the card I designed for my SU! demo meeting last week--it is a change in color from another card I made using this set Vintage Vogue...this version uses Chocolate Chip (although Close to Cocoa looks nice, too) Pretty in Pink, and a piece of Old Olive D/S paper from the Sweet Pea pad...I used the Scallop Trim punch and the Polka Dot embossing folder....it makes a great Mother's Day card!

Thoroughly Trendy Mother's Day

Here's a sample using a template I've used before....Trendy Trees is such a versatile set....pair it with the Thoroughly Modern D/S paper and some Bermuda Bay cardstock and you've got one fab card! And, just so you know...this set is 20% off until April 30th-along with Fifth Avenue Floral!! Don't miss out!

Rosey Mother's Day

I was looking to make some Mother's Day card and turned to one of my favorite sets, Fifth Avenue Floral....I made a birthday card similar to this one in Real Red, Basic Gray and Pumpkin Pie....but this one uses the retiring In Color Bermuda Bay, Rose Red and Sahara Sand...I picked up this color combo from the Thoroughly Modern Designer Series paper...

Vintage Mother's Day

I absolutely love this set, Vintage Vogue, and saw a sample very similar to this one (somewhere) and thought I'd try it...but I changed up the colors and I think it got a little out of control! It's not my favorite card, but at least I tried! Here I used Bermuda Bay and Close to Cocoa with some Chocolate Chip ink...and a clear button with some stamped paper underneath....I also threw in the words from the Sale-a-bration set, Whimsical Words (I think this was what threw it over the edge for me!)

Mother's Medallion

I saw this layout on Mary Fish's blog some time ago and decided to give it a whirl....Mary had the card in So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and (I think) Baja Breeze and some brads along the upper right hand side of the card....I liked the idea of stamping the Medallion on Textured cardstock--it makes for a really cool image--and decided to start using up my retiring colors...here I used Cameo Coral, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, and Chocolate Chip (not retiring)...if you are going to try this--why not stamp the Medallion stamp on another piece of solid cardstock AFTER you stamp it on the Textured cardstock? It gives a textured impression that will make a nice background...

My name is Kate and I bought the Big Shot....

OK, Ok, I have to admit it...I broke down and bought the Sizzix Big Shot...I was a big anti-Big Shot-er for a long time, always asking why is it better than the Cuttlebug?, but then I kept seeing all of these adorable large Sizzix dies that do not fit in the Cuttlebug....soooo I got the Big Shot! and of course, some of those long dies...I just now need the cutting plates for them (AC Moore was out) so I will have to order them from SU! Here are 2 cards using the clown die (non-SU! but all the paper is SU!) The clown makes a perfect kiddie birthday card/invite...wouldn't it be cute in pastels for a baby card, too?  Wow!  I feel better that I got that off my chest!  Now I can start crafting!  Haha!

Cute as a Cupcake!

As you know, we are hosting my 9 year old's birthday here at our house (and of course we are stamping!) so I decided to whip up some thank you's....even though it is a Build-a-Bear theme, I thought these would be perfect--pink and girly! It's hard to see but I sprayed the Close to Cocoa icing with shimmer paint mixed with alcohol and the cherry has iridescent glass beads....

A Fond Farewell

So many people are excited that Stampin' Up! has renovated their color line-up, but I'm really sad! There are so many of my favorites colors going away...but I'll try to keep my chin up....I guess in the end it really means that there is more stuff for me to buy....hey! I feel better already! You can check out the new color line-up on www.stampinup.com

A sunny card...

for a sunny day! I just came in from the gorgeous outdoors and my car thermometer read 92 degrees? What better way to celebrate than with a sunny, flowery card! Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, and Summer Sun were used to create this beautiful flower, and it's finished up with a Summer Sun corduroy button...and you thought corduroy was only for the winter!

Punch Baby

Here's an adorable little baby made of punches! I saw this card originally done as twin boys with the babies facing each other, but I decided to make it a little girl instead!

Vintage Vogue

I broke down and purchased this set after I saw the incredible samples that so many people made with it....this is a card I did in a class last month...I originally saw it in Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, and Old Olive...I will be doing that color combo for the Make-n-Take at our next Demo meeting...

A Beary Happy Easter!

Is is a bear or a bunny? Well, both! I cut off the Build-a-Bear ears and replaced them with oval punches and Voila! Peter Cottontail! Happy Easter to you!
