Happy Pirate...

My 9 year old needed a birthday card for a male classmate...this age is so hard to make cards for boys...I'm so sick of making sports cards!  So I pulled out my cute pirate and whipped up this quick card....I was so lazy that I didn't even feel like coloring in his clothes, so I stamped the pirate 3 or 4 times on different colored cardstock and snipped away!

Here it is!

All those little flowers became this beautiful card!  I took my stylus and pressed each flower into the palm of my hand to give it a little dimension (boy, do I need some hand cream or what?!)...I took a strip of sticky sheet (just like sticky strip but in a whole sheet) trimmed it to 4 x 1 3/4 and started layering on all those little flowers...

***TIP: leave the red protective paper on most of the sticky paper and peel back as you go so you don't touch the uncovered part****

I layered the finished 'arrangement' on a piece of white cardstock that was embossed with 2 different folders (just put one on the top and one on the bottom half and roll through the Big Shot)...the little sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes...of course this would make a lovely wedding card, but I think I'm gonna use it as a birthday card....

Catching up....

Did you ever get so caught up in catching up that it puts you farther behind?

I've been trying to catch up on some scrapbooking, but then my printer went on the fritz....(I like to print out my journaling from the computer) so I am even further behind!  I have almost all the pages set up, but no journalling...top that off with snow days, delayed openings, colds and boogies, work and having a bathroom put in my basement, I'm waaaay behind!

I saw a version if this page done in Blissful Blue and I loved it some much I had to change up the colors...I embossed the ornaments in white EP and used 2 rub-ons...punched them out and popped them up with dimensionals...the trunk of the tree is also embossed with a Cuttlebug folder...added the star on top cuz it looked so bare...

Pear Pizzaz sympathy

I just love, love, love Pear Pizzaz!  Here I mixed it with Marina Mist (another favorite)...I didn't have any Pear Pizzaz ribbon, so I added an Old Olive bow (which matches nicely with the darker shade in the D/S paper from the Level 1 hostess paper pack)....love the punched holes under the sentiment (make sure to use your hole punch guide to line it up!)

Embosslit Thank you....

I used the flower embosslit to make an embossed background....has a great look, but make sure you totally cover the entire flower with glue to make it stick down completely....the little image is an old tag stamp but I trimmed it into a square instead...

Whoo's birthday is it?

I picked up this adorable owl clear stamp set at Michael's (it was only $6) I thought I could use the little owl sayings with my owl punch...I made this card for my nephew's 6th birthday....***key to lining up the scallops---punch a longer strip from the scallop border and line up THEN trim the sides of the card--you will never get an exact line-up if you cut it to the exact size of the card!***

OK, Ok, this is the last one!

I promise!  Thought the poinsettia was so simple!  Take the 5 petal flower punch and punch in red for flower and green for leaves....the white brad in the center adds a cute touch!  The patterned paper is from an envelope from a craft kit that my kids got, and the Real Red is embossed with the Petals-a-Plenty folder...real simple and great to make in multiples!

Some more cards I received...

from Ericka Tannenbaum...love the strip of fabric!

from Anne Marie Perry--funny inside!
from Brenda Miller--love how the wreath is 'around' the ornament punch

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Ok, ok, just a few more!

...then it'll be out of my system!  I have one or 2 more holiday posts and then I will be done!
I loved this card when I saw it, but it was originally meant for you to stick a wallet sized photo in the center of the wreath, but with 4 kids, you would never be able to see them in such a small photo...
Stamp the Medallian stamp in a piece of white (5 x 3 3/4)...use a punch or the Coluzzle (like I did) to remove the center...take your hole punch (the size for eyelets) and make some 'berry' holes...layer the red ( 5 1/4 x 4) underneath to show through the holes...then layer the whole thing on a standard card....take a slightly larger white circle to cover the center (if you are not putting a photo) stamp a sentiment...add ribbon bow and you're done!

Real Red, Glorious Green, Whisper White (the ribbon is retired)

Couldn't resist!

A Christmas version of the previous birthday card...believe it or not , the patterned paper came from an envelope in a kiddie craft kit--and I stole it!

A Christmas cardinal from the bird punch...I love the off-set circle as the 'ornament'...using up some of the Sweet Pea Old Olive houndstooth paper!...the hanger of the ornament is just alternating circle punches!
I know I said no more Holiday cards for a while, but I couldn't resist with this weather! I haven't been making many cards--trying to catch up on some scrapbooking--still haven't done Halloween, yet!

Bookmark saying

Here's the little saying I put inside the bookmark cards: (feel free to copy and use!--I punched it out in a circle and stuck it on the left hand side of the card)

This card has a removable bookmark just for you!  Just slip the bookmark over the page you are reading and you’ll never loose your spot!

Bookmark cards!

I've been making these bookmark cards as thank yous for Christmas gifts (I couldn't stand to make a winter-themed card!

I even made a little tag for inside that explains the bookmark--I'll post it later!

Paper-pieced Presents

Don't you just love paper-piecing?  The look of coloring  without all the work!  I used the littlest scraps of Designer Series paper (that I couldn't bare to throw out) and whipped up this simple card...the edge of the card is trimmed 3/4" and a scalloped punched strip is added for some flair....
